2 February – Groundhog Day

Today is a special day in Punxsutawney, PA: it’s Groundhog Day. According to tradition, local people see whether the animal’s shadow falls or not, to determine if spring is on its way. I would never have heard of this ritual if it weren’t for the Bill Murray film of the same name!

5 February – Red mohawked dinosaur

My mate James loves the idea of dinosaurs with mohawks. The feathers on this ‘dino chicken’ really made him laugh!

In the UK we’ve had lots of snow this winter. Washington DC, the American capital city had 60 cm last night. They’re busy digging themselves out now. President Barak Obama called it ‘snowmaggedon’!
