5 April – Egg in a bottle

I’m still eating all those lovely chocolate Easter eggs I received yesterday, but I’ve just come across this article about how to get an egg in a bottle. I’ve seen this before, but it still amused me!

6 April – General election called

Gordon Brown has at last gone to the Queen to ask for a dissolution of Parliament on 12 April. This means that there will be a general election for Members of Parliament on 6 May.

8 April – New hominid species discovered

My brother told me about this new hominid that has been discovered. Hominids are human-like creatures that are millions of years old and could be a link in the chain of evolution.

9 April – Greek sues over Turkish yoghurt

I wouldn’t like to find my face on a yoghurt pot, as this man did! The Swedish dairy company was shocked when the man sued. They had bought the image in good faith from an image library!

10 April – Polish president dies

It is always sad to hear of planes crashing. This one today was in Russia. It killed the Polish president, his wife, and many high-ranking officials and their families. It is very sad news.

10 April – Grand National

My mum doesn’t normally bet, but she sometimes has a ‘flutter’ on the horses on the Grand National. This is one of the most famous jump races in the world, held at Aintree Race Course.
