18 May - Bear necessities

With his sense of adventure, I reckon Bear Grylls was the perfect choice for Chief Scout. Like other youth groups, scouting helps you meet new friends. I expect Bear likes the survival skills the best.

20 May - Good Id(e)a

Aisha told me about this little fossil. Surprisingly, Ida - as she is known - shares some similarities with humans. She even has tiny finger and toenails. Not bad for a 47-million-year-old!

21 May - Ascension Day

When I went to the shop this morning, the vicar was saying a blessing in one of the aisles. It turns out that he was just keeping the tradition of beating the bounds. The shop had been built over the old parish boundary!

21 May - Mountain tops

Like Bear Grylls, Sir Ranulph Fiennes has climbed Everest. Mum said Sir Ranulph was driven by the fact he wanted to raise lots of money for charity. He is obviously a nice as well as a courageous person.

22 May - Infinity and beyond

Rachel wishes she were Britain's new astronaut. Instead of Rachel, ESA (the European Space Agency) has chosen Timothy Peake. It'll be brilliant to see pictures of him in orbit one day.
