24 November – Big Bang

The so-called atom smasher in Geneva has smashed its first particles together! Scientists clapped and cheered when they got the news. Their search for new scientific discoveries has just begun.

25 November – Thanksgiving

President Barack Obama's first state dinner had an Indian flavour. As well as a host of VIPs, two uninvited guests are in trouble for sneaking in! Most Americans will be having a special dinner of their own tomorrow.

26 November – Hajj 2009

I think the photographs of this year's pilgrimage to Mecca are amazing. Aisha and her family – like Muslims around the world – are busy celebrating the festival of Eid-ul-Adha this week.

29 November – Britain's got talent

Talented young artist Kieron Williamson (aged 7) likes football as well as art. It's good to have different types of hobbies. I love sports and being outdoors, but I also like to see exhibitions in museums and galleries.

29 November – Preparation time

Although it's Advent Sunday today, we have to wait until 1 December to open our advent calendars. I'm so excited! I'm helping Mum make the Christmas cake this afternoon too...
