29 December - Stocking fillers

Welcome back! I hope you've been enjoying the Christmas holidays. I had fun spending time with my family. My brother James gave me my favourite present, which is a book of short stories.

30 December - Emergencies only

I can't believe this! Wanting to get to a pantomime on time is not a reason for calling 999. Our emergency services are under lots of pressure during the festive season. One day we might need their help ourselves.

31 December - Keep moving

Our Olympic medal winners did well in the Queen's New Year's honours list. I'm trying to decide my New Year's resolutions. Perhaps this should inspire me to choose something active!

1 January - Happy New Year

We had to wrap up warm last night for Hannah's party. I wish you a very happy 2009!

2 January - Peace please

Calls for a ceasefire are continuing as tensions rise in the Middle East. The problems are in Israel and the Gaza Strip (map). There have been protests in world capitals calling for peace. Let's hope it comes soon...

3 January - Lost and found

I'm pleased to read that Princess Beatrice's dog has been found. The Queen's granddaughter was very upset to lose the terrier called Max. For pets - including my own - there's no place like home.
